Serbian President Boris Tadic’s official visit to Sarajevo ended Wednesday night after he was awarded a medal by the European Movement of Bosnia-Herzegovina. While many see Tadic’s visit as a turning point in Serbia's policy toward Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Bosnian media are debating whether the Serbian president is leading a two-faced policy toward Bosnia-Herzegovina, primarily because he never dissociated himself from the Republic of Srpska (RS) government's destructive policy. Bosnia: Tadic’s visit analyzed Tadic’s statements that he supports Bosnia-Herzegovina's sovereignty and integrity and that Serbia will never interfere with the neighboring and friendly country's internal affairs have substantial political importance but media in Bosnia-Herzegovina are debating whether the Serbian president's statements are sincere. “Of course, he never supported all those stories regarding the RS independence, but he never dissociated himself from them either. And it speaks of the cold relations between Belgrade and Sarajevo and on the other hand of very close and intimate relations both in political life and all other areas that exist between Belgrade and Banja Luka,“ political analyst Tanja Topic pointed out. However, a singificant number of politicians and intellectuals in Bosnia-Herzegovina have assessed that the visit is a sign of Belgrade and Sarajevo's closer relations. Tadic's talks with the highest officials of Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency, Council of Ministers and parliament focused on solving open issues and need for stronger cooperation. According to Sarajevo University professor and political analyst Enver Kazaz, warming of relations can be expected. “Not only warming of relations, we can expect that President Tadic will, together with Bosnia-Herzegovina's Presidency, launch an initiative of new relations in the region,“ he stressed. However, more positive indications of better relations ordinary citizens saw in an unofficial part of the visit. The Serbian president, although accompanied by strong security, walked through the old part of his hometown yesterday afternoon. Later he met for coffee with legendary Bosnian football expert Ivica Osim and famous musicians Halid Beslic and Dino Merlin. Their friendly meeting caught the attention of many curious Sarajevans.
