Reactor five of Bulgaria's nuclear power plant Kozloduy was temporarily shut down due to the increased radiation level measured in it, the plant operators say. The increased level of radioactive gas xenon was detected on Tuesday morning, but the situation was stabilized during the afternoon, the statement reported by France Presse agency reads. Bulgaria: Increased radiation in plant reactor According to the report, the reactor was shut down so as to prevent the leaking of radioactive particles, none of which were found outside the reactor. Kozloduy is the only nuclear power plant in Bulgaria, and four of its six reactors were closed in 2007 at the request of the EU, due to security concerns. Two newest reactors of Bulgaria's 37-year-old nuclear power plant, built in 1987 and 1991 respectively and modernized ten years later, will continue operating.
