An Albanian family has sued Council of Europe (CoE) Rapporteur Dick Marty over claims that captured Serb civilians were held in their house. The Brama family lawyer Roland Islami said his clients are demanding EUR 200,000 in damages in the libel lawsuit brought against the Swiss senator before a court in Tirana, Albania. Albanian family sues CoE rapporteur The Marty report, published in late December 2010, names members of the ethnic Albanian KLA and their leadership, including Hashim Thaci, as being responsible for kidnapping Serbs in Kosovo in 1999 and 2000, illegally imprisoning them in northern Albania and killing them for their organs. The report, which was used as a basis for a Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) resolution calling for an investigation into the allegations, also stated that the Serbs were held in the Brama family house before being killed. The house is located in a village some 30 kilometers north of Tirana. Thaci, Albanian authorities and the Brama family have rejected these accusations, with Thaci, who now serves as Kosovo Albanian prime minister, and Albanian authorities saying they would "support an international probe". Serbia has in the meantime asked the UN Security Council to launch that investigation. The Brama family lawyer also told reporters that two EULEX officials contacted his clients asking to visit their house. The EU mission in Kosovo has launched a preliminary probe into the allegations, according to reports. Dick Marty (Tanjug, file)
