Free vaccinations will be available in hospitals for the general population starting Monday.

For now, people with chronic illnesses are being vaccinated first. Leading epidemiologists have also been vaccinated as an example to the citizens.

“Vaccinations against the flu, pandemic or seasonal, are useful for everyone and the only counter-indications are allergies to eggs, there are no other ones,” Doctor Ilija Kuzman of the Zagreb clinic for infective diseases said.

“There are mild systematic reactions, you will be a little tired and weak on the second day and may have a slight fever,” clinic officials stated.

“We are calling the priority groups, people that have chronic bronchitis, asthma, and other people with increased risks of complications from the swine flu, as well as children and people with other chronic conditions, to come get vaccinated,” Spit clinic chief Zorana Klišmanić said.

Some 140,000 doses have been distributed all over the country. Croatia has purchased over a million doses of the vaccination from the Novartis pharmaceuticals company.

Suspension and Bridges, January 31, 2010

What we need in Belgrade, really, is a suspension bridge. We need a bridge that will suspend our doubts about ever having enough viable bridges. We need a bridge that will suspend our disbelief about the dangers ...
