Hotel closed as 40 students get swine flu
2 November 2009 | 09:46 | Source: EuroNews
SINAIA -- A hotel in the Romanian mountain resort of Sinaia, has been closed after 40 law students caught the H1N1 virus.

260 foreign and Romanian students were there for a conference when a tourist staying at the hotel refused to be hospitalized for two days after it was confirmed she was suffering from swine flu.

Romania is one of several countries in the region battling against the spread of the virus. In Bulgaria, the government is anticipating

at least two million cases over the coming months, as the country prepares to announce a swine flu epidemic.

Ukraine has made an urgent appeal for international help after 60 people died from respiratory problems in a week.

Poland and Slovakia have responded by sending protective masks and supplies of Tamiflu. Ukraine has also ordered 16 tons of the antiviral drug from Switzerland.

Swine flu has become a political issue in Ukraine as the country gears up for January’s presidential election.
