One man died and at least ten others were injured today during the violence between two rival groups of football supporters in Široki Brijeg, Bosnia.

One man died and at least ten others were injured today during the violence between two rival groups of football supporters in Siroki Brijeg, Bosnia. The trouble broke out on Sunday ahead of a match between the local team and Sarajevo FC. Man dies in Bosnia hooligan violence The victim was fatally struck on the head with a rock, and was identified as Vedran Puljic, a fan of the visiting side. The scene in Siroki Brijeg today was described as "veritable street war". Eyewitnesses told Federation Radio (Radio Federacije BiH) that they saw a police car set on fire, broken glass on the streets, and that shots were heard from pistols and automatic weapons. The media are reporting that the violence started outside the stadium, when Sarajevo fans, who call themselves "the Hordes of Evil", destroyed several cars. Significant material damage was also done to a nearby sports venue.
