Zagreb police last night arrested the man who killed Ivana Hodak, daughter of lawyer Zvonimir Hodak, whose clients include suspected organized crime bosses. Ivana Hodak was murdered at the beginning of October last year in the center of Zagreb. Police nab Ivana Hodak killer Though media speculated about the motives and background of her murder, police say that this crime had nothing to do with organized crime and that the murderer bore a grudge against Zvonimir Hodak for not fixing him up with a job as he had promised. Though police will issue an official statement this afternoon, media say that the suspect worked as a janitor at the Mladost sports park, where Zvonimir Hodak plays tennis, and was apparently fired, and then took offense to the fact that the lawyer did not find him another job afterwards. Police found evidence that led them to the man, and have been carrying out an intensive manhunt for him over the last fortnight in Zagreb. Ivana Hodak was gunned down on Oct. 6 last year at the entrance of the building where her parents live, which is located 100 meters from police headquarters. Police questioned more than 100 people, but specific information about how the investigation was progressing has not been available until now. Two weeks after Ivana’s death, daily Nacional owner Ivo Pukanic and his colleague, Niko Franjic, were murdered, and both assassinations were linked to Mafia killings. Ivana Hodak’s murder sparked angry citizens’ protests, as well as calls for the dismissals of the justice and interior ministers, Ana Lovrin and Berislav Roncevic.
