Montenegrin PM Milo DjUkanovic said on Sunday that his country's relations with Serbia are on an "unacceptably low level". Belgrade has "not shown readiness" to accept a new Montenegrin ambassador, he revealed. "Montenegro-Serbia relations poor" When Podgorica recognized the Kosovo Albanians' unilaterally declared independence last year, Serbia expelled its ambassador. "Until Serbia says that an ambassador from Montenegro is welcome, there will be no procedure started here to name him," said Djukanovic. He also said that since the recognition and the departure of the ambassador from Belgrade, the relations between the two countries had worsened. These relations, he continued, "had thawed after the exit of Vojislav Kostunica's government". Djukanovic said that there was "exceptionally great space" for more intensive cooperation, but that it will come "once Serbia does what is necessary". "We want good relations with Serbia, but we don't want to beg for our ambassador to be accepted." Djukanovic also commented on Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic's statement that the dual citizenship talks between Podgorica and Belgrade should continue at a higher level, to say that it "gives a new, negative tone and suggests a certain reservation toward what the two ministers agreed upon". The Montenegrin prime minister also said that the diplomatic relations with Pristina will be established in the foreseeable future, after which "the model of representation" will be chosen.
