The Bosnia-Herzegovina’s presidency has not received any request from the RS government to expel the Dutch ambassador from the country. Feni Damir Arnaut, adviser for constitutional issues to the presiding member of theBosnia-Herzegovina Presidency, Haris Silajdzic, says that the entities have no jurisdiction to make such demand of the Presidency. RS declares Dutch ambassador persona non grata He added that not only did the entities not have the right to declare diplomatic personnel personae non gratae, nor could they ask the Presidency to do so. Radio Free Europe reports that Arnaut said that the request itself grossly violated the authorities of Bosnia-Herzegovina, which was just one in a series of such activities by the Republic of Srpska (RS) in recent times. The Republic of Srpska government (RS) has proclaimed Dutch Ambassador Karel Vosskuhler a persona non grata in the RS. The controversz erupted after the entity’s government decided to take the measures after an interview in which Vosskuhler told Sarajevo daily Dnevni Avaz that RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik was “worse than Belarus dictator Aleksandr Lukashenko.” According to a statement from the government, the ambassador crossed the line not only of acceptable diplomatic behavior, but good manners, which was why the RS government, via the Foreign Ministry and Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency, had called for Vosskuhler to be expelled. Vosskuhler was characterized in the government’s statement as an ardent supporter of the Bosniak political option, who was interfering in the internal issues of the country that had welcomed him, and which expected him to do the job he came here to do. It was announced that a letter of protest would be sent to the Dutch government demanding an answer as to whether the ambassador was in the country to serve Holland’s Foreign Ministry, or to promote the policies of the Bosniak people.
