President Tadic’s advisor Mladen Djordjevic has been accused by Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic of interfering in Montenegrin politics. He said that Djordjevic was offering help to the Montenegrin opposition in the upcoming local elections. Commenting on a statement from Tadic’s cabinet that rejected the accusations, Djukanovic said that “if they need me to document this for them, I will do so as a serious person and as an official of a serious country”. Opposition officials in Montenegro said that Djukanovic was “panicking” ahead of the local elections, scheduled for May 23. Montenegrin ParliamentSpeaker Ranko Krivokapic said that Serbia has been “interfering with Montenegrin elections since the beginning of the multi-party system in Montenegro, and even interfered in the first partisan election in Montenegro during the reign of King Nikola I”. “That’s nothing new,” Krivokapic said.
