| Anniversary of Dayton Agreement marked | ||

BELGRADE --
Fourteen years since the signing of the Dayton Agreement is being marked in the Republic of Srpska (RS) on Saturday.
Still after 14 years, there are many different interpretations of the document. While many Bosniak and Croat officials in the Bosnia-Herzegovina Federation believe that the Agreement has been surpassed, RS officials continue to call for its strict implementation. Bosnia-Herzegovina had been without the official version of the agreement for many years, which was recently received by the Bosnia-Herzegovina institutions by way of the French embassy. On November 21, 1995, it was announced that the presidents of Yugoslavia, Bosnia-Hercegovina and Croatia—Slobodan Milošević, Alija Izetbegović, and Franjo Tuđman—had officially ended the three and a half year conflict in Bosnia-Hercegovina. Under the agreement, the country was divided into two entities: the Bosnian Federation and the Republic of Srpska (RS). In the presence of then U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher, Milošević, Tuđman and Izetbegović officially signed the Accords on December 14, 1995 at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
