According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is "most important gathering within the Italian Chairmanship of the Contact Group for Cooperation with Mediterranean Partners," and will be held in Italy's Palermo on 23-25 October.
The main theme of this year's conference will be the flows of migrants and refugees across the Mediterranean and the security challenges they bring, the statement, quoted by the government's website, said, and added that "n this sense, Dacic's participation has a special significance for our country, bearing in mind the commitment of the government of the Republic of Serbia in overcoming the challenges of the refugee-migrant crisis."
Dacic will participate in a plenary session of the OSCE Mediterranean Conference, a high-level political segment, to be opened by Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano and OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.
This year's Mediterranean Conference in Palermo is also an opportunity for the realisation of numerous bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the meeting, and Dacic will speak with the ministers of foreign affairs of Italy and Malta and with the interior minister of San Marino, the MFA said.
