Serbian PM Vucic receives Oliver Ivanovic

Ivanovic was recently released from house arrest, ordered after the Court of Appeals in Pristina overturned the first-instance guilty war crimes verdict against him, and the nine-year prison sentence, and ordered a retrial.

Vucic and Ivanovic today "agreed the forming of the Community in line with the Brussels dialogue was the most significant step in protecting the vital national interests of the Serbs, as well as in maintaining peace and stability in Kosovo and Metohija," the Serbian government said in a statement.

They also spoke about possible ways in which Serbia could support economic progress of the Serb population in the southern province.

Ivanovic said that the political situation in Kosovo and Metohija is unstable and tense, because "their political parties" are constantly at odds with each other.

"The Kosovo government has not managed to push through a single law that was important to them, which eventually led to its collapse, while the fact that the Brussels dialogue is a process that will last a long time has caused additional anxiety," Ivanovic said.
