EUR 400k to be spent on monument dedicated to France

An agreement was signed on Tuesday on "the renewal of the Monument of Gratitude to France," the Serbian government has announced.

EUR 400k to be spent on monument dedicated to France

Serbian Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin and French Ambassador to Serbia Christine Moro signed the agreement today.

Vulin said afterwards that Serbia is proud of its history, and noted that in both world wars France and Serbia fought against the same enemy.

Serbian and French people equally share their love of freedom, he added.

Vulin explained said that the reconstruction of the monument will cost "about EUR 400,000" - of which "RSD 22 million will be provided by the government of Serbia and around EUR 200,000 by the French embassy."

Moro "expressed satisfaction over the renewal of the monument, adding that the restoration should be completed by November 11 this year."
