EU membership as "strategic determination"

Joksimovic stressed that EU membership is a strategic determination of the government of Serbia.

She "explained that the reforms are implemented in order to improve standards and a better life for citizens, noting that the European integration is the best mechanism for internal development and progress of the country."

Serbia expects the opening of Chapter 26, which relates to culture and education, and Chapter 20 on industrial policy and entrepreneurship at the first intergovernmental conference during Malta's EU presidency on 27 February.

Joksimovic expressed gratitude to Moro for support and expert assistance that France has provided to Serbia in the course of European integration.

Serbia is open for cooperation to strengthen regional stability, she underlined and pointed out that, however, it requires a constructive approach by all countries in the region.

Moro "underlined that the European Union and its member states see stability of the region as very important, and also welcomed Serbia's commitment to continue reforms, with the expectation that chapters 20 and 26 will be opened."
