Vucic also announced that a decision whether to call parliamentary elections would be made at the end of January or in early February.

Tanjug reported that, responding to reporters' questions, Vucic said he "already knew what he thought and wanted regarding calling parliamentary elections along with the presidential polls" but that there were "many things impacting the decision."

Vucic announced he would first discuss this with the government, the Serbian president and within his Serb Progressive Party (SNS), as well as with the coalition partner and many other people Serbia's future depended on.

"In any case, we will not endanger Serbia's stability and economic progress," he said.

"We had elections this year, but the economy has been unaffected by them and no one was wasting money," Vucic said, adding that he would not make the decision on his own.
