"I am very proud of that fact," Vucic said, adding that a 122.1 bln dinar deficit had been planned for 2016 - and seen as a good deficit on the economy's way out of the crisis.

As of today, we have a 31 bln surplus, Vucic said.

Some are describing the 2005 and 2006 budgets as the best, even though funds obtained from privatizations were shown in the budget, and all expenditures were based on such revenues, which were unrealistic, Vucic said, citing the approx. 1.5 bln euro sale of Mobtel, which was shown as regular revenue.

"Then we embarked on a complete disaster as there was nothing to privatize. There have been no such revenues since 2008," Vucic said.
