U.S. official talks "energy issues" with Serbian leadership

Warlick, a former U.S. ambassador to Serbia who is now in charge of the Department of State's Bureau of Energy Resources, conveyed her country's support "for diversifying sources of gas and other fuels," which she and Dacic said was significant for long-term stability of all countries of the region.

For Serbia and the region, energy security is a significant economic, foreign policy and security issue, Dacic noted.

"Serbia is striving to ensure energy supplies that will be stable over the long term," Dacic noted, expressing Serbia's readiness to participate in projects that would make this possible in the future, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, Warlick was received by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. According to a brief statement posted on the Serbian government's website, they discussed "the need to diversify energy sources in order to ensure security of energy supply of Serbia, and other issues of common interest in the field of energy."
