Serbian FA appeals against UEFA's Kosovo decision

European football's governing body, UEFA, admitted the Kosovo FA despite the fact that it does not meet the requirements set out in UEFA's statute.

Gabriel Lansky, a partner in the law firm Lansky, Ganzger & Partner, which is representing the FSS in the dispute, has confirmed this for Tanjug.

"Our law firm is representing the interests of the FSS against this decision and that is why we have submitted an appeal to the CAS," Lansky said.

UEFA has violated its own statute, under which only football associations of UN member states can be UEFA members, he noted.

"As we know, Kosovo is not a member of the UN, so the Football Association of Kosovo cannot be a UEFA member either," Lansky said.

Certain interest groups had sought to amend the UEFA statute, but the attempt failed, so the decision on Kosovo's membership was in violation of the statute, said Lansky, who is confident that the FSS will win in the dispute since the UEFA decision is illegal.
