Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Friday thanked Sweden as the most important bilateral donor in the field of environmental protection in Serbia.

Vucic today received Swedish Ambassador to Serbia Christer Asp and head of the embassy's Development Cooperation Torgny Svenungsson, "underlining that these funds are intended for preparation of the negotiating group for the opening of Chapter 27 which deals with the environment and climate change."He added that "these funds will be used for development of infrastructure in the field of environmental protection, and for other projects in that area."
The meeting also concluded that with this donation, but also with transfer of its experiences, Sweden will contribute to improving the quality of environment in Serbia.
Vucic "underlined that the Serbian government appreciates very much the support which the Swedish government gives to Serbia in the process of European integration, as well as professional and advisory assistance in this regard."
Asp commended the economic progress of Serbia achieved through reforms implemented by the Serbian government, and confirmed that his country will continue to support Serbia on the European path.
He underlined that "Prime Minister Vucic and the Serbian government, with their commitment to cooperation in the region, have a very important role in preserving stability of the Western Balkans."
