Serbia ready to work with U.S. to discover truth - minister
"In this case it is important to arrive at the full truth. Two autopsies have been performed, in Libya and in Belgrade, and it has been determined that death occurred from the force of a detonation," he said.Stefanovic criticized the U.S. Department of Defense saying that "the Pentagon cannot be making conclusions based on analyses of photos of the explosion in Libya that killed the two Serbia diplomats."
Stefanovic on Thursday made the same statement for state broadcaster RTS - that the autopsies found the Serbians had been killed by strong detonations, and that Serbia was ready to hear whether the Pentagon has any evidence for its claims.
Serbian embassy in Libya staffers Sladjana Stankovic and Jovica Stepic were kidnapped in Sabratha last November from a convoy of diplomatic vehicles, and died on February 19 in a U.S. air strike against an IS base near the same town.
However, a Pentagon spokesperson this week said there was "nothing to indicate" that the Serbians died as a result of the airstrike. This was followed by a U.S. newspaper quoting unnamed officials who said they "believed" that Stankovic and Stepic were killed before the attack.
