Vucic said that "other theories could have been discussed while we only had the results of the autopsies by the Libyan experts, but after the results of the autopsies performed by our doctors that is no longer possible."

"Now that our doctors performed the autopsies, we have no doubt about how those people died. When there are 12 wounds on a body sustained simultaneously, unequivocally from an explosion, then they (Pentagon) must show us any kind of evidence that would drag us into any other kind of story," Vucic has been quoted as saying.

He was responding to a reporter's question about a statement given on Wednesday by a U.S. Department of Defense spokesperson, who said there was "nothing to indictate" that Sladjana Stankovic and Jovica Stevic died as a result of the U.S. air strike.

When a reporter said that "the Pentagon claims" the victims' bodies "would have been in worse shape had they been killed in the blast," Vucic said he did not know how Americans knew what condition the bodies are in, adding that they "looked bad to him - and did not have a single bruise before."

"It is obvious that the injuries occurred simultaneously, but let them provide satellite images, let them show us and provide evidence for anything," said Vucic.

"This way, I think that the stance of the Pentagon that the Serbian embassy officials were not killed in the bombing of an Islamic State facility in Libya is part of a global showdown between big powers, in which Serbia does not want to participate," said he.

Vucic said that that "different stories" are a further insult to them, and all citizens of Serbia, and remarked that neither victim "can be brought back to life."

"It would have been nicer if they said - 'We're sorry, Serbs, and Stepic and Stankovic families', than this today," Vucic concluded.
