"Serbia relying on Germany's support on EU path"

Michaelis has been quoted as saying that "stability in the Balkans and Serbia's European path are very important topics."

Michaelis also said that Germany wants "a transparent political solution to the migrant crisis that will not have a negative impact on transit countries on the migrants' way to Western Europe."

Vucic and Michaelis also discussed the security situation in the Western Balkans.

Vucic stressed that European integration is a strategic goal for Serbia.

He thanked German businesspeople who are investing in Serbia, making Germany not only one of the biggest investors, but also one of the biggest employers in Serbia, the government press office said in a statement.

Vucic said that Serbia is ready to align to European recommendations the activities it is undertaking towards solving the migrant crisis.

They also discussed this year's Paris conference, to be held as part of the Berlin Process. During his two-day visit to Serbia, Andreas Michaelis has also been received by other Serbian officials, including First Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, who on Monday said bilateral relations between the two countries were "good, characterized by intensive cooperation in all fields, high-level dialogue and a constant upward trend."

He pointed out that the Federal Republic of Germany is one of the leading economic partners and investors in Serbia, as well as the largest bilateral donor of development aid.

Dacic expressed satisfaction with cooperation with Germany within the framework of the OSCE Troika, as well as readiness to continue cooperation during the German presidency of this organisation.

He also expressed the hope that the two countries will further enhance political dialogue and overall cooperation.

Michaelis "underlined that Germany highly appreciates Serbia’s attitude towards migrants, noting that Serbia is a very important partner when it comes to the stability of the region."

He recalled that stability and cooperation of the countries of the region are one of the main goals of the initiative of German Chancellor Angela Market on starting the so-called Berlin Process.

Michaelis stated that Germany will continue to provide strong support to Serbia’s membership in the EU.
