According to him, opposition's estimates that the Progressives (SNS) would lose the election if more than 65 percent of voters turned out were "unjustified" - bearing in mind the current rating of opposition parties.

According to Uljarevic, the SNS can now count on 320,000 voters more than in January 2014 and will launch the campaign, once elections have been scheduled, "from a better starting point than previously."

He told Belgrade-based daily Danas that unlike the leaders of other parties who are viewed positively only by their own voters and possibly those of their coalition partners, SNS leader and PM Aleksandar Vucic "goes above the SNS by 300,000-500,000 (votes)."

Asked whether "Boris Tadic and Cedomir Jovanovic united are certain to cross the (five percent) threshold)," Uljarevic said the coalition of their parties - the SDS and the LDP - would certainly have more than five percent of the votes if elections were held now, and would "probably" do better than the DS-NS coalition.

Asked whether "a wider (DS-LDP-SDS) coalition" would have more votes than if they went separately as two coalitions, Uljarevic said such "synergy effect" was not evident in the surveys, and that the result of such an alliance would likely be "a simple sum of the votes they'd win individually."

If parties were to go to the election separately, only the SNS and the SPS would be certain to cross the threshold, he said.

According to Uljarevic the DSS-Dveri coalition is at this point "closer to the threshold than to a two-digit result". As for the Radicals (SRS), he said their leader Vojislav Seselj will this time take part in the campaign, "which gives them the chance to cross the threshold."

Uljarevic said that anti-EU parties could win about 15 percent of the votes in total - "but the topics that will be of key importance in the campaign could have a decisive influence on that."
