PM hopes Serbs in Croatia won't be hearing fascist chants

"I hope that Serbs will feel less threatened in Croatia and I hope they will not hear the chanting of 'For home - ready' in the center of the city," Vucic stated, adding he was "choosing his words when he said it."

He is further "convinced that reason will prevail."

He also noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary since the creation of the Nazi-allied Independent State of Croatia (NDH) and the death camp Jasenovac - operated by the NDH's Ustasha regime.

The Ustasha greeting, "For home - ready" ("Za dom spremni") was recently heard in Croatia's capital Zagreb during a protest rally attended by thousands of people.

Speaking about the Jasenovac anniversary, Vucic said that "Serbia and Srpska (Serb Republic in Bosnia, RS)" will mark it, and added:

"That was the place of greatest suffering anywhere in the world and I think people will understand it, that they will join us in marking (the anniversary) so that such crimes never happen again."

Vucic reiterated his recent statement that he was "concerned for the first time" regarding the spring and "the security situation in the region" and that his worry was due to "a lack of a solution for the migrant crisis."

He said he would be attending a conference on Syria in London on Wednesday, where he will see the German chancellor, and the Chinese and British prime ministers.

"I believe I will hear from them also about the solutions that they envisage for the future," said he, adding that "this government will do everything to protect Serbia" and that "it would be good" if instability in the region could be avoided.

"Unfortunately, there aren't many strong governments, it is not known when elections might happen in any country. You can see they have more tear gas than water in the parliament in Pristina. So, simply, these are all not easy, and worrying things," said Vucic.
