PM talks migrant crisis with UNHCR chief, Slovenian FM
Vucic and Schodder "discussed the migrant crisis, plans for 2016 and UNHCR's role in managing the crisis," the government announced.Schodder said that UNHCR would continue to offer support to the Serbian government, not only when it came to migrants, but also with respect to internally displaced persons from Kosovo and refugees from Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina who now resided on the territory of Serbia.
The assistance in resolving the refugee crisis has to remain strong and proactive, said Schodder.
"Vital to find solution"
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec agreed in Belgrade Tuesday that it was necessary to find a solution to the migrant crisis, expected to continue during the spring.They discussed the consequences of a possible Schengen agreement suspension by Austria and agreed that it was necessary for the entire Europe to find a common solution to the migrant crisis, the government said in a statement.
Vucic expressed his gratitude to Slovenia for supporting Serbia on its European path and said that Serbia saw Slovenia as a true friend.
Erjavec said that relations between the two countries were at a very high level and congratulated Serbia for successfully chairing the OSCE and organizing the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Belgrade in 2015, the statement said.
