He said that the Belgrade Ministerial Council would be the best attended in terms of the number of foreign ministers, as far as he could remember.

So many delegations in attendance are an acknowledgement to Serbia that it has chaired the organization constructively, and also a recognition to the OSCE's agenda and approach in difficult times, Zannier said.

Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday evening that everything was ready for the Ministerial Council, noting that his meeting with Zannier marked the official start of the conference in Belgrade.

It is a great recognition for Serbia to chair the OSCE in the year marking 40 years since the signing of the Helsinki Final Act, he noted.

“I think that Serbia has had a balanced approach to various conflicts in the areas covered by the OSCE, from Vladivostok to Vancouver,” Dacic underscored.

The OSCE chairperson-in-office highlighted that over the previous year he had had an excellent cooperation with OSCE Secretary General Zannier and Secretariat.
