IMF: Fiscal, structural measures support long-term growth

Commenting on the IMF European Department's autumn report for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, which contains the fiscal policy recommendations, Crivelli said Serbia was going through the significant process of fiscal rebalancing.

“You have had a strong fiscal performance so far this year, but most importantly a coherent fiscal plan to continue strengthening public finances,” Crivelli said.

Serbia should continue with the pension system overhaul, public sector downsizing, he said, adding that, on the other hand, the IMF backed investments in infrastructure and education.
