Semsit Krasnici arrested for war crime

The indictment against Gecaj was raised after Council of Europe rapporteur Dick Marty submitted in 2010 a report on the crimes committed by the KLA in Kosovo and neighboring Albania.

The Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office also charges Gecaj with trafficking in bodily organs taken from captured and kidnapped Serbs and other non-Albanians in KLA camps in northern Albania.

In 2011, the trial chamber of the Mitrovica District Court sentenced Gecaj to 15 years in prison for murders of prisoners in the camps in northern Albania between April and June 1999.

Former KLA members Riza Aliju, Saban Hoti and Haki Redzepi from Srbica were convicted for mistreatment of prisoners from Kosovo and war crimes together with Gecaj to 12, seven and six years in prison, respectively.

Sabit Gecaj was given provisional release a few days ago, with the explanation that he needed medical treatment abroad, whereby the serving of his prison sentence has been suspended for three months.
