Daily: Nikolic to visit Vatican next week

Nikolic was on his way to the Vatican in April when his plane had to turn back due to engine failure.

The president planned at the time to inform the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, of "some stances of the Serbian Orthodox Church that are of common interest," said the daily, and added Nikolic for that reason met with Patriarch Irinej ahead of the trip.

According to the same report, Nikolic should also visit Sarajevo "within the next month or two." A visit planned for June was postponed until the extradition process for Naser Oric, who was at the time detained in Switzerland, had been finished.

At the time, the president's cabinet said Bosnian Presidency member Bakir Izetbegovic's request to postpone the visit "will not change Serbia's good intentions toward all citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina."

Nikolic's cabinet has also been quoted as saying that the president would "always go on an official visit to Bosnia when all three members of its Presidency show unity and readiness for such a visit."
