Minister Aleksandar Vucic expects the two-day conference on the Western Balkans in Vienna to bring progress on the issue of refugees and regional integration.

Vucic: Merkel plays decisive role

"Chancellor Angela Merkel plays a decisive role, she is the most important European leader and our hopes are focused on her," the prime minister said in an interview with German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Speaking about refugees from the Middle East, the Serbian prime minister said that he does not ask for money from the EU, but added it is important to find a comprehensive solution to the problem between Brussels and non-EU member countries - a solution that would be pan-European.

"We are a poor country and these people do not want to stay here - they want to go to the EU," said Vucic, stating he supports the five-point plan on a unified asylum policy made by Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz.
