PM: We approach migrant problem responsibly

"Serbia is behaving normally and perhaps the only mistake is that we don't whine enough. We don't cry and whine, and perhaps I am to blame because I don't whine, also not because of the kind of country left to us, in debt and deficit - and instead we solve problems," Vucic has been quoted as saying.

Another reason why "we don't whine because of migrants on the border with Hungary, Macedonia, and Bulgaria," he continued is that "simply put, nobody even wants to hear us."

"When they wish to hear they will. They know it themselves. I'm afraid everybody is closing somewhat, putting their hands over their eyes, and over that a scarf so they see even less. Our approach is humane and I think that our people's approach is very humane, something I am proud of," said the prime minister, and added that the fact there have been "no major incidents with migrants so far" proved his point.

"The costs due to migrants are rising on a daily basis. Perhaps we will get some help from Europe, and perhaps we won't, but we still won't cry because of it," Vucic stated.

While visiting the south today, the prime minister also "announced major investments in Leskovac, as well as special subsidy measures for development of Serbia's southern territory in the time to come."

In meetings with local authorities, Vucic "underscored that the Serbian government allocations for southern Serbia are slightly higher than those set aside for other part of the country because in this way, the government is trying to prevent citizens from moving away from the area."

"We want to strengthen southern Serbia," the prime minister said and announced "new jobs in Vladicin Han and Vranje," Tanjug reported.

According to this, two factories should open in Vladicin Han which will employ 400 people each and one more factory should open in Vranje which will create jobs for 3,000 people.

"We expect a lot of work to be done in the Pcinja and Jablanica Districts, as well as the Toplica and Pirot Districts and in south-east Serbia, and we will offer special subsidy measures for this part of the country," Vucic said.

The prime minister noted that "it turned out he was telling the truth when he spoke about positive growth of 0.5-1 per cent for the Serbian economy in 2015, while IMF forecast was negative."
