"Combating human trafficking is priority" - MUP official

All OSCE members should step up cooperation in combating human trafficking and protecting the victims, Nikolic said.

Today we face a new form of mixed migration that includes refugees, asylum-seekers, and economic migrants, who are at risk of falling victim to human trafficking and various forms of exploitation, Nikolic said in his opening address.

He added that the most vulnerable categories of migrants include children who travel without parents or guardians, young girls and women, and asylum-seekers.

On the sidelines of the conference, Nikolic met with Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Yury Fedotov and discussed the potential for cooperation and the UNODC Regional Program for South Eastern Europe, which will be presented in October, the MUP said.
