Serbia is a European nation and has its full-fledged place in the EU - "but Serbia's EU entry must not be based on blackmail."

National Front MEP: EU must not blackmail Serbia

"The EU should be fair toward Serbia. It has the right to its own specific interests, to protect the special status of Kosovo and the Serb Republic, and not sever relations with other Serbs that live outside its territory. But, it should join the EU and we back that," said Chauprade.

The French MEP, who has recently attracted attention for proposing two resolutions concerning Serbia to the EP, has said that his document was meant to " attack the biased and one-sided approach to the issue of Srebrenica."

"History should be considered justly. When we speak about crimes, all crimes should be highlighted. The EU must stop playing with history. It should not play the card of blame game and diabolization of peoples," Chauprade said.

According to him, Belgrade "must offer resistance in the (EU) negotiations)." Chauprade also remarked that "one should be strong and defend one's uniqueness."
