OSCE Chairperson in Office Ivica Dacic started his official trip to the South Caucasus on Monday with a visit to Baku.

"There is no alternative to a peaceful settlement," said Dacic."Serbia's own experience confirms that it is only through dialogue that a sustainable, peaceful solution can be found, one which would put the region on the path of cooperation, the only way forward in our increasingly interconnected international community," he said, the Serbian Foreign Ministry said.
During his visit, Dacic also had meetings with Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Speaker of Parliament Ogtay Asadov, as well as representatives of political parties and of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh.
He also visited the premises of the OSCE Project Coordinator's in Baku, where he discussed with mission members ongoing programmatic activity.
Dacic was accompanied by Personal Representative Ambassador Andrzej Kaspryzk and his Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Ambassador Angelo Gnaedinger.
Earlier in the day, he said that the South Caucasus region is of major importance for Europe's stability and voiced confidence that the dialogue is the only way to resolve the conflict.
Moreover, all sides need to demonstrate political will to arrive at a solution, Dacic said after talks with Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku.
Dacic voiced the willingness of Serbia, as the country holding the OSCE chairmanship, to help find solutions through its representatives and Minsk Group co-chairs, the Serbian MFA said.
When it comes to bilateral relations, Dacic and Mammadyarov agreed that Serbia and Azerbaijan are strategic partners and friendly countries, ready to develop relations at all levels.
With the trip to Azerbaijan, Dacic started the three-day visit to the OSCE missions in the South Caucasus, in his capacity as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, as part of which he will be in Georgia on June 2 and Armenia on June 3.
