There's "almost consensus" in EU on opening of chapters - FM

The foreign minister was speaking for Voice of America, commenting on the "Friends of Serbia" meeting, held in Brussels on Monday.

"It was clear to everyone at Monday's meeting that we have been saying for months now that there almost is a consensus in Europe that Serbia should open the negotiations as soon as possible and open the chapters, and that the key issue here is Germany, which needs to be spoken to about what it thinks is sufficient to ensure that Serbia can open the negotiations," Dacic said.

All attention must now focus on efforts to see with European Commissioners Federica Mogherini and Johannes Hahn and our German partners what kind of stage we are in, Dacic said.

Dacic confirmed that progress in the dialogue with Pristina is the key political criterion for starting the negotiations with the EU, which he said is not particularly fair on Serbia because not everything depends on Serbia.
