PM "takes responsibility - but doesn't know what for"

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic says the Serbian Army (VS) is conducting "a professional investigation" into <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?yyyy=2015&mm=03&dd=16&nav_id=93496" class="text-link" target= "_blank">the crash of one of its helicopters</a> last week.

PM "takes responsibility - but doesn't know what for"

The Mi-17 crashed in Belgrade late on Friday, killing four VS crew members, two doctors from Novi Pazar, and a baby they were transporting for medical treatment.

Asked whether the Interior Ministry (MUP) refused to send one of its helicopters because of THE bad weather conditions, the prime minister said he was "not informed about that," noting that "MUP helicopters are different from army helicopters" - and adding he "could not see what that has to do with the whole case and the desire to save the baby."

Vucic then said he "takes all responsibility" but added that "someone needs to tell him what he's supposed to be held responsible for."

Just as he did on Monday, when he defended the role of his ministers of defense and health, the prime minister repeated that while nobody had consulted him on sending a military helicopter, if they had, he would have approved it.

Commenting on media reports that ministers Bratislav Gasic and Zlatibor Loncar were ready to welcome the helicopter in Belgrade as an opportunity for self-promotion, Vucic said that "these accusations were also not clear to him."

"When Velja (Velimir Ilic) and Toma (Tomislav Nikolic) failed to show up in some situations, you asked why they weren't there, and now it's a problem when someone does show up," Vucic said.

Asked about the choice of the location for the helicopter's landing, the prime minister said it was "always best to land in Surcin."
