Serb participation in Kosovo institutions remains "frozen"

Djuric will also head the newly formed office for coordination in the process of negotiations with the provisional institutions of self-government in Pristina.

He told the public broadcaster RTS said that in the next few days "a meeting will be held Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic," and explained that Vucic would meet with representatives of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija.

"We will discuss the continued political pressure on Serbs," he said, adding that the participation of Serbs in Kosovo's institutions will remain "frozen" until these problems have been resolved.

Speaking of the newly formed office, Djuric explained that the Serbian government decided to strengthen the administrative capacity by gathering together "the people who have so far been engaged in the negotiations."

This body will, as he said, "gather all information that is relevant for the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina in one place."

He gave the example of "property" and said that documentation is now "filed in many organs," while "all that must be centralized and properly systematized."

"It is important that the process is orderly and in one place," Djuric said.

Speaking about the implementation of the agreement on the judiciary and judges in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, Djuric said that "the most important thing that happened is to have arrived to a position where there are Serb judges, and that the situation as in the case of Oliver Ivanovic, where there is not a single Serb judge, is not repeated."

He added that Serbs would enter those courts "based on a political agreement which is formulated in writing, and in this sense an environment and a system has been created in the north where our people will have incomparably greater influence on the judiciary."

"So far we have had tens of thousands verdicts where rights of our people have been tossed aside," Djuric said.
