Agreement on judiciary is not enough - EP official

"I welcome the continuation of the dialogue between the prime ministers. The meeting on February 9 in Brussels was not easy but, all in all, I think it is a good sign and a step forward. I also welcome the agreement on judiciary, which now, of course, must be implemented," McAllister told B92 Radio on Wednesday.

Chapter 35 on Kosovo is crucial for Serbia's EU accession talks and it should be opened early in the process, with the normalization of Belgrade-Pristina relations taking place in parallel with the progress in negotiations overall, McAllister said, pointing out that the progress made in the dialogue increases the chances of opening the first chapters.

"We are on a long road, it will not be easy but I think we are going in the right direction," McAllister said, adding that he supports the stance that the first chapters should be opened this year.

McAllister, who visited Pristina on Tuesday and today started his official visit to Belgrade, expressed concern about the increased number of Kosovo Albanians seeking asylum in Germany.

"It should be made clear to the migrants that they stand no chance of getting asylum in Germany, and that a different solution must be found for them," McAllister said.
