Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic has said that his ministry "will be actively engaged in the fight against terrorism."

Interior ministry "to work on counter-terrorism strategy"

Stefanovic said that the Interior Ministry would draw up a counter-terrorism strategy and action plan for its implementation, the Interior Ministry said.

The two officials discussed cooperation activities, adoption of a new law on police that should help step up reforms and improve work the Ministry of Interior's work, as well as Serbia’s 2015 OSCE chairmanship.

They also discussed European integration, particularly activities related to EU acquis Chapter 24 (Justice, Freedom and Security).

Stefanovic and Burkhard spoke about cooperation in the fields of internal control within the police and community policing, which, along with the fight against corruption and organized crime, is one of the priorities of the Interior Ministry.

It was said during the meeting that the results of a public opinion poll on police work would be presented soon, a statement said.
