France offers "full support" - Serbian FM

"It is very important that Minister Fabius expressed the clear support of France for the Serbian presidency, which they believe we will perform well, and that they have made themselves available to help with all that we may need in the coming period," said Dacic .

He recalled that France is actively participating in the OSCE, that French diplomats are involved in resolving the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, and within the framework of the monitoring mission on the border between Ukraine and Russia.

"We share the view that dialogue and peaceful solution of problems is the only road when it comes to Ukraine, that we are consistent in respecting and implementing the Minsk protocol," Dacic said.

The meeting also discussed bilateral relations, which, it was estimated, "greatly improved," while "the desire to make them even better" was expressed.

"We will work diligently on the implementation of those agreement that prime ministers Vucic and Valls reached in Belgrade and Paris," he said, adding that he invited Fabius to visit Belgrade next year.

Dacic said that Fabius informed him about the discussions in the European Council and the European Commission, and stressed that France "once again clearly demonstrated it strongly supports Serbia on its path of European integration."

"Since there was no consensus to open chapters 32 and 35 at this time, primarily it was the attitude of Germany, Minister Fabius informed me that they insisted, and it was included in the conclusions, that the expectation was expressed that first negotiating chapters will be opened very soon," Dacic was quoted as saying.

"This is undoubtedly another sign of our good relations and the full support of France to Serbia," Dacic added.
