Russian TV reports about "patriot Šešelj's" return

The Russian reporter noted that "a grandiose" rally was organized in the capital, "one of the biggest in recent years."

"Tens of thousands of people, many of whom were carrying Russian flags, chanted slogans of unity between Serbia and Russia," the report said, and added that Šešelj was the founder of a party that "united patriots in the country," as well as that "the bloody drama in Ukraine has shaken the Serbian patriot."

Speaking for the broadcaster, Šešelj said that the crisis in Ukraine was "invented by America," and that the government in Kiev was made up of "Nazis, Western agents whose fathers served Hitler and killed people."

He said that his party supports the self-declared Donetsk and Lugansk republics, and considers "Crimea a part of Russia, as Kosovo is a part of Serbia."

Šešelj added that his party stood against Serbia's accession to the EU, and was committed to integration with Russia instead. He said that Russia for the first time in many years has "a strong government that protects the interests of Russia and its people."

Šešelj, who was granted provisional release for medical reasons and whose war crimes trial is still ongoing, reiterated he would not return to the Hague Tribunal voluntarily.

"If they want to, they can arrest me and take me to jail," he said.
