"The main objective of the amendments to the Labor Law was growth and employment and therefore we support it, because under conditions of the economic crisis institutions of social justice can hardly be expanded, and unrealistic policies should not be conducted," he told TV Pink when asked why his Socialists supported the bills.

"It is not enough just to say that we stand for a society of social justice, because it can only remain a distant goal that will never be achieved if we fail to help Serbia achieve a few steps forward," said Dačić.

"We cannot live in the past, because we changed the past," he further stated, and added: "We voted for a new social system - capitalism, and we cannot go to either capitalism or the EU with socialist laws and ideas."

Dačić then noted that Serbian laws contain some terminology "that cannot even be translated to English," and that "new legislation and new practices are needed now to move forward, considering we achieve 65 percent of the GDP we had in 1989."

Dačić believes that Serbia "has no time to wait, like some other countries," because "while we were surviving sanctions and the bombing, they were making progress , and we now lag behind."

According to him, it is "very important to continue the social dialogue at all costs."

"One can never expect all sides in this dialogue to agree - unions, employers, and the government. When there is no agreement, the government is the one that makes a decision," he explained.
