The officials discussed economic issues, the reform steps to be undertaken by the Serbian government, as well as the new labor law, the government's media office said in a statement.

Vučić "stressed that Serbia is facing a large fiscal deficit, effects of the floods and the damage sustained by the energy sector."

He told the German parliamentarians that he believes in the reforms and hopes that the government will achieve significant results in its first 100 days in office.

Vučić once again stressed the importance of Germany for Serbia's European path.

Schockenhoff "voiced understanding for the political and economic difficulties Serbia faces, and underlined the support of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group for the reform process in Serbia and for its EU accession, " the statement said.

Earlier in the day, Serbian MPs who met with their German colleagues said that the conversation revolved around Serbia's EU membership bid, and that the German officials made it clear their country's list of seven demands put before Serbia would be insisted on.

According to announcements from Berlin ahead of the trip, the agenda included topics related to "Serbia's preparations for the EU accession, further implementation of the Belgrade-Priština agreement, relations with Kosovo, as well as the economic situation in Serbia."
