During a meeting he held Keefe on Tuesday, Gašić thanked the United Kingdom for the initiative, financial assistance and support in the process of establishing a new NATO Trust Fund for Demilitarization of Surplus Weapons and Ammunition in Serbia and enhancing the capacity of the Technical Repair Institute Kragujevac, Tanjug reported.

Gašić "extended an invitation to British Secretary of State for Defence Philip Hammond to visit Serbia," the Serbian Defense Ministry said and added that he "thanked the British embassy for donating 67 radio stations for use by field teams of the Ministry of Interior sector for emergencies during the catastrophic floods that had hit Serbia in May."

Gašić and Keefe also discussed the importance of cooperation in corruption prevention, military education, military medicine, and security sector reform.

A total of 14 members of the Serbian Defense Ministry and army have completed their studies at the Defense Academy of the United Kingdom and the Royal College of Defense Studies, while Britain "supported an English learning program for members of the Ministry of Defense and the VS."

When it comes to public relations, a donation for a project to improve presentations of the Defense Ministry and the VS on the Internet and social networks "is especially important."

The officials also discussed opportunities for joint participation in military and medical exercises, the statement said.
