Liaison officer banned from entering Kosovo

"By denying entry to the territory of the province to Dejan Pavićević, who was at the time of the incident in a car with diplomatic license plates of the EU mission, is a gross violation of the agreement that Belgrade and Priština reached with the mediation of the EU."

The statement added that it was "particularly concerning that such actions of the Priština authorities, contrary to the obligations they undertook, undoubtedly make the further process of normalization of relations between Belgrade and Priština more difficult."

"Dejan Pavićević was turned back from the administrative crossing of Merdare with the excuse that he did not have valid documents, which is certainly not justifiable, since the travel papers he had are absolutely valid according to the agreement on liaison officers," the statement said.

The Serbian government "hopes for an urgent resolution of this contentious situation and requires full respect of the undertaken obligations from all stakeholders involved in achieving the Brussels agreement."
