"DSS will be part of ruling majority in Belgrade"

Andreja Mladenović said on Wednesday that the DSS will be part of the ruling majority and back the SNS candidate for mayor of Belgrade.

"DSS will be part of ruling majority in Belgrade"

During a break in the inaugural session of the city assembly, Mladenović told reporters that the party supported Nikola Nikodijević's election for city assembly speaker, so the DSS joined the SNS and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) in that election and the constitution of the city assembly.

"As for our joining the ruling coalition in Belgrade, the party's city committee decided on Tuesday evening to accept the SNS invitation, and the presidency decided to accept it and gave consent to the city committee to accept the SNS invitation and take part in running Belgrade in the next period," Mladenović said.

By participating in the interim council, the DSS fully contributed to governing Belgrade, he noted, adding that the party would request from the government to run Belgrade to the benefit of Belgraders, and not in the interest of certain ruling group.

Asked about mayor, Mladenović said candidates of other parties are not their concern, noting that the SNS has a commanding majority in the city assembly, so mayor will certainly be from their ranks, and the DSS will back that proposal.
