Marković on Monday filed a request to be dismissed after found himself in the spotlight over a polygraph test he took as a citizen - a part of the Peurača case investigation.

According to earlier announcements, it was expected that the dismissal of Marković would be discussed by the Serbian caretaker government on Friday, but that did not happen.

"I do not want the stated falsehoods to affect the reputation of the Security-Information Agency and create the impression that I was influencing the investigation against Dragoljub Peurača or any other investigation from my position of deputy director," Marković said in a letter sent to the media on Sunday, announcing he would ask to be dismissed the next day.

Peruača, who headed the Labor Inspection, was recently arrested for allegedly receiving EUR 15,000 in bribes.

According to media reports, Marković failed the lie detector test when he made his statement related to the case.
