SNS leader promises new government by May

According to Tanjug, Vučić added that he was "ready to extend his hand to anyone who has ideas about how to join forces and do something good for Serbia."

"The program for a new government will be drawn up over the next few days, and all the work will certainly be completed by May 1," Vučić told a news conference at the SNS headquarters.

He said that such a result "oes not mean the SNS will consider anyone inferior."

"Rather, the SNS is willing to extend its hand to everybody and to hear ideas and suggestions about how something good can be done for Serbia," he said, and added:

“We will not fight for the next elections but rather for next generations."

Vučić also said the SNS has won the local election in Belgrade as well, and received between 45 and 47 percent of the votes.

He told a news conference at the SNS headquarters he believed the SNS "would be able to for the city government on its own, just like the national government."

When asked when the SNS would announce its candidate for mayor, he "asked for patience, adding that the candidate would be known in a few days," Tanjug said.

The mayor of Belgrade is elected by the city assembly.
