BELGRADE The Serbian government met on Tuesday in Belgrade to adopt a proposal to dissolve the Serbian parliament and send it to the president. "In order to create the conditions needed to the people to vote on the future course of the government and achieve as wide public support for faster reforms and the modernization of the society as possible, we propose that the National Assembly be dissolved, new parliamentary elections held and a new government formed based on the will of the people." Government explains proposal to dissolve parliament "Further achievement of goals already being pursued and reforms started by the government require steps that, according to representatives of a number of parliamentary groups, need the utmost political support from the people of Serbia," the government stated. Since its formation in July 2012 to this day, the government has achieved significant results in a number of areas, the document says. "During this government's mandate, Serbia entered the accession talks with the EU, which is of historic significance for Serbia's future. It achieved a decades-old goal of many generations. There have been particularly important results in the talks with Pristina, which implemented in the best way the policy of protecting the national interest in Kosovo. The Serbs in Kosovo got for the first time their own legal and legitimate government recognized by the international community as well," the government pointed out. The results achieved in reforms and in battling crime and corruption are also very significant, and Serbia's image in the international community was completely changed, the government noted.
